Aryan School participated in the One Nation reading together campaign by the Scholastic India on 25th November. The students read the book sitting in the formation, depicting the map of India, with a slogan ‘India reads’. Students from class 4th to 8th spent 30 minutes of reading in the presence of the Chief Guest Mr. Satinder Puri and Guest of Honor Mrs. Renu Puri.
The reading commenced with a pledge taking ceremony led by the Principal Mrs. B Dasgupta. The students thereafter read aloud excerpts of the speech by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. This year’s pledge has been written by the renowned author Uma Krishnawami.
One Nation Reading Together is about granting access to books to children who normally do not have access to them. In 2015, an estimate of over 1500 schools had participated simultaneously in the reading event.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Mr.Satinder Puri who has been actively engaged in task of restoring and preserving the natural beauty of Lynndane Estate in Mussoorie said, “We are fortunate to be living in a progressive country such as India. We must look after our environment.” He further told the students that India has a lot of potential for future. He said that the world in competitive but is paired with immense opportunities.
Mrs. Renu Puri, the Guest of Honor on the occasion asked the students to have focus in life. In her address to the students, she said, “You should not get disheartened if things don’t go your way. You should endeavor to be what you want to be.”
Present on the occasion were Vice Chairman Mr. Sunny Gupta and Mrs. Mridula Bedi. The event concluded with the guests signing the graffiti wall and sharing their experience.
