Frank Anthony Memorial All- India Inter -School Debate Competition

The Aryan school, Dehradun hosted Frank Anthony All India Memorial Inter School Debate Competition on 15th July 2015. Eight renowned schools of North India participated in the contest. The out station schools were All Saints’ College, Nainital, Confluence World School, Udham Singh Nagar and St. Mary’s Academy, Meerut. Touch Wood School, St. Joseph’s Academy, Cambrian Hall,  Doon Cambridge school were from Dehradun.

The judges for the competition were Mrs. Sonia Sindhwani, Mrs. Jyotica Verma and Dr. Rati Oberoi.

Mrs. Anu Mathur, School Coordinator welcomed the gathering and Mrs. Ashima Chandana the moderator of the debate competition apprised about  the life history of late Mr. Frank Anthony in whose honour the debate is organized all over India, by the council. She also introduces the judges.

The topic for discussion was “Competition leads to the death of relationships”

Most of the students spoke proficiently and confidently. Their thoughts, ideas and expression were commendable.

The Principal of The Aryan School Mrs. B. Dasgupta congratulated all the winners and in her brief address emphasised on public speaking and further added that debating standards in all the schools will continue to improve day by day. She said all the debators did a splendid job and they deserve to be appreciated.

The winners were:

Best Speaker – Savinay Sharma - St. Joseph’s Academy, Dehradun

Winning School Team – St. Joseph’s Academy, Dehradun

1st Runner up – Abhiti Mishra – St. Joseph’s Academy, Dehradun

1st Runner up Team – St. Mary’s Academy, Meerut

All the participants were awarded certificates by the judges. The Principal presented certificates to the winning team.. The stupendous contest was a great success. On this occasion H.R Head Ms. Mridula, all the teachers, staff and students of the school were present.
